Watching Daddy

Well harvest is almost done, last week was pretty busy, they did a lot of combining and got all the swathing done, so just a few more days of really busy life left.
I took these pictures a while ago when they were swathing wheat beside our yard, Makayla loves to go watch Daddy, as long as she doesn't have to sit still for to long. :)

And just cause she so loves to play with straw (and grass and dirt :) ) I took some pictures of Kayla doing her favorite outside stuff.

Canning Season

Well it's that time of year again, bringing in and storing away the gifts that God has given us. I especially like this time of year because it reminds me of how much God has blessed us with!
I usually freeze my apples but I still had enough from last year so this year I made apple pie filling, sauce and juice. I had never done any of these after we got married, it was a lot of fun and I so enjoy seeing my pantry filling up!

First we picked the apples, of which I don't have any pictures, but thank you Jen for your help!!

Then comes washing the apples.

Makayla helping/eating. :)

Peeling, coring and slicing the apples. Andrew so wanted to help with part but he wasn't quite big enough, next year might not even get a turn. :)

Cooking the apples.

Cooking the sauce.

Then you mix it all together, can and it's ready to be used in pie!

Apple sauce has the same process, only I cut the apples finer.

The next morning we got an early start with the apples for juice.

More washing.

And then lots of slicing.

After they were sitting in water all day and after all the daily work was done, making food, bringing it to the field, washing dishes, bringing kids home, putting kids to bed and milking the cows (Kerri and I run the fort while everyone else is out in the field) I asked Kerrie if she would mind helping me with the juice, Kerri being the sweetheart that she is said sure, so I brought the apples over and we got busy again.

We cooked the apples and water, strained them and added sugar.

Then the jars went in the canner and it was all done!

Thank you Kerri!!!

Time Really Does Fly!

Four years ago today the love of my life asked me if I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him...
And I said yes!
It was one of the most interesting engagements that I have ever heard of. :)
We had been courting for 10 days, and because we already knew that we would be getting married we decided to skip the waiting, surprise everyone and just get on with things. :)
It was a Sunday, Josh's turn to come over, he came in the morning and we went to church with my family then came home for the afternoon. It was a VERY hot day so we were down stairs looking at pictures and visiting with kids. After awhile Josh asked Dad if he would go for a walk with him. So off they went. I don't remember how long they were gone, but it left like hours!!!
Finally they got back, just in time to leave for a family gathering. We got there, I introduced all my aunts, uncles cousins and grandparents to Josh as this was their first time meeting him. We ate supper, played volley ball and catch, for me the evening seemed to go by so slowly, I guess it was cause I knew what Josh and Dad had talked about and I was anxious to find out when he would ask me. :) After everyone was sitting around visiting Josh told me to ask if it was OK for us to go from a walk, knowing what was going happen we got permission and off we went. We hadn't gone far when Josh turned to me and asked, so you want to do this? With out slowing down at all I said yes, my heart filling with excitement.
Since we had only been courting for such a short time he didn't have a ring, but that was OK, we went shopping for one on the next rainy day. :)
We didn't tell anyone till we were on our way home, we figured it might be to such for them. :) They were all very excited for us and wedding plans began right away! :)
6 months and 11 days later we were married, and I love Josh more today then ever! God blessed me so much by sending this wonderful man into my life, I am proud to be his wife.
Josh I love you, you are all that I could pray for in a husband, friend and father.

Here are some pictures of us from different times in the past 4 years.

This was our first "date" We went to a Blue Bombers game with our Dads, and the older brothers and sisters. It was a blast!!

Hiking the sand dunes with Josh's family.

Just happy to be together. :)

Our engagement pictures, taken by Josh's sister Megan.

Helping Josh's family take down an old house on their yard. Even work is fun when you're together.

Playing hockey together, something that really enjoy!

I love you so much Josh!! I want to grow old with you!

Makayla Faith 9 Months Old

I little while a go dear sweet auntie Meg was over and she did a photo shoot of Kayla and she did a super job!! Thank you so much Megan!!!

Kayla is such a sweet heart! She is a joy to have around and is growing up so fast! She loves her Daddy and her brother and misses them when they are not around to play with her.
She loves her food and is eating table food and drinking real milk now, thanks auntie Jen for milking.
Kayla is not crawling yet, I think it might be because Andy brings her everything that she needs :) But she is starting to scoot on her bum and she loves standing at the couch.
We love you Makayla you are a blessing from God!
